The Gospel of Jesus Christ
We are all sinners who have gone against Gods law and commandments. To demonstrate that we are all sinners, here are a couple of the 10 Commandments...
- Thou shalt not lie. (everybody in the whole world has lied. White lies count too!)
- Thou shalt not steal. (we have all stolen something; even of little value.)
- Thou shalt not commit adultery. (you may think you have never commited this one; however, Jesus says in Matthew 5:28 that if you look at a woman with lust, you have commited adultry in your heart already.)
- Thou shalt not make idols. (every single person in the world has had a person who they have greatly admired to the point of worship making the idol as a god image over there life. Idols can also include food, your pets, places, sports, your children, ect.)
These are just 4 out of the 10 Commandments that we have ALL broken. Not one of us is innocent on our own before the Lord which places us in great danger of His eternal rightous judgment (aka Hell).
However...
Because God is rich and mercy (Ephesians 2:4-5) and because "for God so loved the world" (John 3:16), He gave us a way out by sending His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, God incarnate down to earth to pay the price that we could never pay ourselves. God demonstrated His own love toward us that while we were still sinners, Christ Jesus died for us (Romans 5:8). This is the ultimate gift of substitution where God comes down as a perfect man (fully human and fully God) name Jesus Christ (Christ meaning annointed or chosen one in Greek) who was without sin yet bore the wrath of the Father that we all so deserve. How Good is our God.
To understand a little better, say a young man is in court for a horrific crime that he commited and now he is sentenced to death row. However. a man walks into the courtroom and says in front of the judge "I will take his punishment." This is what Jesus did for us. He took the punishment that we so deserve and bore it on Himself. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5 that "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Can somone say, Hallalujah!
Bible FAQ
Why would a loving God send people to Hell?
God is both perfectly loving and just. It would be both unjust and unloving if God did not punish wickedness. True love protects good and exposes evil. The Bible says in Psalm 5:5 "The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity." God CANNOT and WILL NOT put up with any wickedness becasuse of His perfect and divine nature which is both eqaully loving and just.
Why is sin and it's punishment so serious?
The Bible says in Romans 6:23 that the "wages of sin is death." God is Holy and He takes no plesure in wickedness niether does nothing evil dwell with Him (Psalm 5:4). Sin is very seriuos in the eyes of God. It is so serious that it nailed our Lord and Savior to the cross. Think of it this way. If you lie to your child, not much happens. If you lie to your wife, you are most likley sleeping on the couch. If you lie to a police officer, there will be serious legal consequnces. If you lie to a judge, you commit perjury. This is the same sin commited but with different ranks in authority. However, God is the ultimate authority who is above all the kings and rulers of the earth. He is the one who deems right, wrong, evil and good. That is why our sin must be punished because it is a HUGE offence to God Almighty. In addition, because God is eternal; He is the "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" (Revalation 22:13), so will Hell's punishment be.
How do I get saved?
The Bible teaches repentence and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Luke 5:32 that He did not come to call the rightous, but sinners to repentence. The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." We have to understand and recognize that we are all sinners in needing of a Savior and that we have all fallen short of the Glory of God (Romans 2:23). In Greek, the word repent means to "change one's mind" so we have to turn from our sin and turn to God. It is as simple as that. We are not saved by our own works (for our works are like filthy rags unto the Lord according to Isaiah 64:6) but instead by the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Ephesians 2:8 says "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;" It is not us who seeks God, but God who seeks after us. Praise the Good Lord for His great mercy!
Can I lose my Salvation?
The quick answer is no. IF you are saved, you are ALWAYS saved. John McArthur once said "If you could lose your salvation, you would." However, thanks be to God that we do not have the power to hold our salvation but instead God is our salvation. The Bible says in Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." The Bible aslo states in John 10:28, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." IF you are truly saved, your salvation is secured by God and absolutly nothing can snatch you out of His hands. As Charles Spurgeoun once said, "What a mercy it is that it is not your hold of Christ that saves you, but His hold of you!
What Bible translation should I use?
We recommend the King James Version (KJV) for it is one of the most closest translation to the original language of The Holy Bible. We also like to use the English Standard Version (ESV) which uses modern Englsih while maintaning accuracy to the original language of The Holy Bible.
